How can we maintain our inquisitive skills in college? Do you feel burdened and bored with classes and homework? College requires students to graduate with a certain level of learning and exploring skills, but college life definitely should be more than acquiring all the requirements of formal studying. Business simulation competitions are the solution. Teamwork, practicing skills, and intensified self-learning make it very helpful to students who want to gain some professional experience and improve themselves.

Business simulation competitions are designed and organized by major companies. Students take part in them as case studies or online games, and they receive attractive prizes for winning. Moreover, many companies recognize the best players in the competition as potential employees. Competitions such as Ace Manager (an online bank business simulation game sponsored by BNP Paribas) awards more than 10 thousands Euros to winners, French Open tickets, and the opportunity for valuable internships.

However, I believe that your incentive and motivation to join the competitions shouldn’t just be the profitable prizes. I believe you should join the intense competition from because of the opportunity to improve yourself. Students who are willing to practice their professional skills, to gain professional experience, and to improve their self-learning ability will be greatly rewarded, even if they do not win the competition.

During the intensive periods of the competition, participants need to analyze all the   information carefully. This means days and nights of crazy teamwork. Probably, students do not have enough ready-to-use professional skills, but if they persist through the project step-by-step, they will find out how amazing their abilities to understand and self-learn are. The accumulative learning endeavor made by students can showcase the skills they need. In a nutshell, it is a very beneficial challenge for students that can help improve them.

Ace Manager is the business competition that I experienced. I joined the 5th Ace Manager when I was a sophomore student. I was fascinated by finance at that time, and I was seeking opportunities to learn more about finance (skills and the market). Then I encountered Ace Manager, a sophisticated and well-organized online banking game. It included three branches of banking businesses: retail banking; investment/corporate banking; and wealth management. As sophisticated as it was, anyone in the world who had Internet access could make up a 3-person team and join the game. During 3 weeks of intense case analysis and scenario studying, Ace Manager tested the accounting skill, basic financial engineering skill, and financial analysis skill of each student. The days and nights of hard work helped me learn a lot of the skills required to be a multi-national bank’s intern.

There were more than 5,000 students globally last year that joined Ace Manager. Students’ majors ranged from Mathematics, to Accounting, to Journalism, to Finance. No matter what professional backgrounds students had, as long as they had an interest in finance or business and joined Ace Manager they could finally gain what they wanted. This year, Ace Manager opened its registration on October 18th. Are you going to start your professional world journey with these business simulation games? They’re well worth trying.
