Nashville Film Festival

The Nashville Film Festival is one of the longest-running film festivals in the country, celebrating its 45th year in 2014. Each year, guests come to view more than 254 films from 55 countries. Festival-goers enjoy a plethora of works from documentaries and narrative features to animated and experimental shorts. Panels and workshops are also offered for those looking to enrich their knowledge beyond the screen. Make sure to head downtown to the Nissan Multicultural Festival Village for free films, a VIP tent, and food trucks at Walk of Fame Park.

The Nashville Film Festival is one of only 42 festivals worldwide where the winners of the Short Narrative and Animation competitions automatically qualify for Academy Award consideration.

The Nashville Film Festival, named one of the top five in the U.S. by Brooks Institute, has become one of the premier showcases for the best new work of American and international filmmakers.

WHAT’S GOING ON

Plenty to do at the Nashville Film Festival! Many films will enjoy their world premieres at this festival. There are documentaries, music films, animated shorts, experimental films, and narratives to be seen at the theater! Also, check out the festivities happening downtown including outdoor movies, live music and more!

AT THE THEATER

At Green Hills Regal Cinemas during the Nashville Film Festival you have the chance see the best in World Cinema, American Indies, documentaries, and numerous short form programs by veteran masters, up-coming directors, and first-time filmmakers. Films screened in the past include 13 Assassins, (500) Days of Summer, Cyrus, Terri, Buck, Nowhere Boy, Project Nim, and Academy Award nominees I Am Love, Ajami, and Dogtooth. It is more than a festival, but an experience for all who appreciate the art of film.

Purchase a pass and see the films that are up for those special awards including Narrative Feature, New Director Feature,Documentary Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Short, Animated Short, Experimental Short, College Student Short, and Young Filmmakers Short. In addition NaFF is hosting a specialscreenwriting competition which received over 1,500 entries, and the Music Films/ Music City competition. Inspiring artists will want to check out the various panels and workshops featuring people in the film business. Check out Voice-Over Acting with Jason Marsden, one of the country’s busiest actors and voice-over artists. Discover The Art of Auditioning from J. Karen Thomas, Christopher Chase, actors from ABC’s Hit Drama “Nashville”, and more as they tell you about current trends in auditioning for the camera, finding an agent, self-taping for auditions, and other issues in the business. Also, during The Writer’s Hustle, seefour industry professionals who have seen scripts, shot, sold, and dropped, share anecdotes about what a writer is in for after their script has been written. HAPPENING DOWNTOWN

Walk of Fame Park will hosts events daily for the Nashville Film Festival. Enjoy the live music at the music stage, or a tasty beverage from the Stella Festival Pub open daily! Bring those blankets and chairs for the outdoor films that will be shown each night starting at 8pm.

Each night will bring a new way for families and friends to appreciate the art of film! Learn about Women in Film and Television with special events throughout the day, April 18. See For the Love of Music: The Story of Nashville April 19 during International Day. You have to check out theirSunday Funday which includes a special movie-themed Easter Egg HuntApril 20.
