College Rankings: Forbes vs. Princeton Review

Hello and welcome to IntroAmerica’s latest feature on college rankings!

Here we show you two different rankings of major colleges side-by-side. This is to help you and your family to evaluate your many choices when it comes to higher education. This month, we feature the Forbes Magazine’s list and Princeton Review’s list of top universities. Both lists track many universities and colleges across all countries, but we are only focusing on their best-ranked U.S. schools.

Remember, more important than the prestige of a college is its ability to suit your personal and academic needs.

Forbes: Forbes is an American business magazine owned by Forbes, Inc. Published biweekly, it features original articles on finance, industry, investing, and marketing topics. Forbes also reports on related subjects such as technology, communications, science, and law. Its headquarters are in New York City. Primary competitors in the national business magazine category are Fortune and Bloomberg Businessweek. The magazine is well known for its lists and rankings, including its lists of the richest Americans (the Forbes 400) and rankings of world’s top companies (the Forbes Global 2000). The motto of Forbes magazine is “The Capitalist Tool”. Its editor-in-chief is Steve Forbes and its CEO is Mike Perlis.

The Princeton Review: The Princeton Review (TPR) is an American-based standardized test preparation and admissions consulting company, based in Framingham, Massachusetts. It operates in 41 states and 22 countries worldwide. It offers test preparation for standardized aptitude and achievement tests and advice regarding college admissions, and publishes books with Random House. Approximately 70% of the company’s revenue comes from test preparation.
